International Award Winning Shiraz The Mount Stapylton Vineyard was planted in 2002 and we have now produced five high quality vintages. At the Interntional Wine Challenge in Vienna in 2009 the Mount Stapylton Sophia Shiraz 2008 was awarded silver medal. At the International Wine Challenge Vienna 2008 the Mount Stapylton Shiraz 2006 was awarded a Gold Medal and the highest points for shiraz of 92/100. At the 2007 International Wine & Spirit Competition in London the 2006 Mount Stapylton Shiraz was awarded a silver medal (Best in Class). Wine judge's comments "Deep opaque purple crimson colour, flavours, violet, raspberry and plumb over white pepper, and bursting with concentrated fruit flavours." The wine has been aged in French and American oak for twelve months and has developed into a rich and smooth Shiraz. It has a deep purple/crimson colour with a cherry and vanilla bouquet and displays rich berry flavours. Cellaring and decantering will further enhance this wine. The winemaker is Mr Don McRae from Horsham who has over 30 years experience in the wine industry in Victoria and holds a Wine Science Degree from the Charles Stuart University in Wagga Wagga. |
